Interview With Sarah: Business Women Who Thrive

Updated: Jul 21, 2019

Introduce yourself! Tell us a bit about you and where we can find you on social media too!

Hey, I’m Sarah! I’m a 21-year-old, full-time worker and part time blogger! I hope to one day grow my community of boss girl business owners and make this my full-time job!

All of my social medias can be found here! https://linktr.ee/businesswomenthrive

Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because I have a love for writing and teaching people. I’ve always wanted to own my own website, even as a kid, and I was constantly writing so when I fell upon blogging, it was a match made in heaven!

I started blogging back in 2018 because I wanted to make a little side income to help pay for my wedding. If I could make this my full-time job, that would be a total dream come true! I paused the original blog I started and came up with my new one, Businesswomenthrive using the experiences I have from my first blog.

Tell us about your niche and your blog

My niche is a little up in the air, honestly. I blog about blogging but I don’t want to be one of those bloggers who only teach people how to blog. I want to write about all kinds of topics related to business and women. So, I generally tell people I’m in the business niche!

My blog is called Businesswomenthrive and my overall mission is to teach young women how to start and run successful blogging businesses. I’m writing for the women who want to quit their jobs and start their own businesses, or want to make a side income to pay off their college debt.

Essentially, I blog for women just like me! I’ve just started out, but I hope I can make it a success one day!

What is the best thing about blogging for you?

There are so many things I love, it’s hard to just choose one! If I had to pick just one though, I’d say connecting with people.

I love getting to know my readers and followers on social media, having actual conversations with them and building some online friendships! I’m all about building community and trust! I like getting to know them and their problems, and maybe even helping solve problems too!

But there’s so many other things like the freedom of blogging, writing, the creativity- I just love it all!

What’s your favorite social media platform and why?

My personal favorite is Facebook, I’m honestly addicted! But on the business side of things, I’d have to say Twitter! Twitter is where I’ve made most of my online friends and get to engage with my followers most!

What would you say to someone interested in blogging or just starting out?

To those interested in blogging, you should try it! Blogging is the best decision I have ever made, but I wish I had put more research into it in the beginning. Do your research, see if it’s something your into and just start! Don’t being afraid, starting is the hardest part!

To those who are just starting out, don’t stress if you aren’t as successful as someone else. Stop comparing! Chances are, you’re looking at someone months or years ahead of you. Everyone had to start at square one.

What was the most challenging thing about being a blogger for you?

Starting out was the hardest part! Learning everything, finding my footing, my voice and getting into a blogging groove!

What do you do when you aren’t working on your blog?

My full-time job is working at a fast food place, which is pretty much all I do outside of blogging! My other hobbies are reading, writing and crafting!

Name a female blogger or business owner who inspires you and why.

My favourite blogger at the moment is Ellduclos! I stumbled upon her blog and I connected with her immediately! She’s not much older than me and works full-time on her blog, so it really inspired me. Her writing is amazing, and she’s so down to Earth!

Here’s her blog link: https://www.ellduclos.blog/

What advice would you have for women wanting to start their own business?

Probably the same advice I’d give for blogging, just start! Do your research, make a plan and go for it! There’s nothing wrong with having a big dream!
