Interview With Millie: 'Lack Of A Niche Is A Niche!'

Updated: Jul 17, 2019

Introduce yourself! Tell us a bit about you and where we can find you on social media too!

Hello! My name is Millie and I am 19 years old. I blog about Health, Fitness and Lifestyle over on MSB Life (www.msblife.com) and like to call myself an Animal Crossing enthusiast.

You can find me tweeting in ALL CAPS over at @msblife_ and check out my photos (with motivational captions) on Instagram @msb.life.

Why did you start blogging?

Whilst I have been creating content since I was about 12, I created MSB Life in December 2018. If I had to choose a reason for starting my blog it would just my love for the thinking, creating and community that comes from creating content and blogging.

Tell us about your niche and your blog.

I always joke that my blog's 'lack of a niche' is a niche! Although, I have recently moved more towards health and fitness content but lifestyle tends to cover almost anything these days.

I like writing enthusiastic, informative and fun content that is based on my experiences and thoughts.

What is the best thing about blogging for you?

Probably Twitter. I just love the community that comes with blogging and I get to speak to such amazing people.

On specifically blogging, I really enjoy seeing people comment and engage with my content.

What’s your favourite social media platform and why?

Oops, I think I just answered this one in the last question! My favourite, by far, is Twitter. The simplicity, the relatable tweets and the ability for me to post good morning in caps each morning makes Twitter the BEST.

What would you say to someone interested in blogging or just starting out?

Just do it! I over thought starting a blog for AGES but the best thing you can do is just start. Don't worry about starting your platform off on a free version, although be prepared if you ever switch over to self-hosted!

What was the most challenging thing about being a blogger for you?

Time! I take pride in being an organised person but sometimes you just find yourself without the time to do everything that comes along with blogging.

I work full-time, with my blog as my hobby, so keeping those separate and trying not to think of my blog at work is challenging too.

What do you do when you aren’t working on your blog?

Working, at the Gym or watching YouTube!

Name a female blogger or business owner who inspires you and why.

I actually have 3.

  • Fitness-wise my inspiration is Natacha Oceane.

  • Lifestyle-wise is Sarah's Day.

  • Business-wise is Grace Beverley.

What advice would you have for women wanting to start their own business?

What is missing from what already exists? What are your strengths? What can you give to someone?

If you do you and be proud of yourself then you will always be successful.

Anything else you want to add?

Look after yourself physically and mentally. It's way more important than you may think it is.
